Meet the Team:
Dr. Steven A. Markow is originally from the Boston area, he received his B.S. degree cum laude from UMass, Amherst. He
received his Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry, Boston, Mass. After teaching at the New England College of Optometry for one year, he was recruited to work at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami Florida.
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is consistently ranked as the top eye hospital in the county. He was at the hospital 5 years before leaving for a major ophthalmology group in south Florida. After a new optometry school opened in the Miami area he took on a position a Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Low Vision Clinic at the school. After 15 years in Florida he was homesick for the New England seasons and the Red Sox, and settled in South Hadley.
Dr. Markow is very proud of the way his practice has grown to become South Hadley’s primary eye care facility. He and his wife Jennifer are supporters of many causes in the community, from the Black Cat theater, summer concerts on the common. Buttery Brook, Senior Center, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, support of the Libraries, and many other local events. Dr. Markow is past-president of the South Hadley & Granby Chamber of Commerce.
Lisa Depot – Lisa is a native of South Hadley and came to Village Eye Care in 2015. She has become well-versed in the reception duties and scheduling. She has become Village Eye Care’s billing specialist. Lisa would be happy to answer your questions about insurance and scheduling.
